Yuriy Krotov was born in Grivenskaya Cossack Settlement, Krasnodar Territory, situated in a close proximity to the Azov Sea;
1972 – He met a local painter G.A. Polugaev, his future teacher and tutor. His got his first lessons of painting;
1976 – He went to Moscow with his teacher where he entered the Moscow High School of Art under the Surikov Art Institute;
1976-1983 – Years of study in the Moscow High School of Art;
1983-1985 – He served in the Soviet Army;
1985-1992 – Years of study in the Moscow State Academic Art Institute named after V.I. Surikov;
1992 – He visited Paris and for the first time took part in auction sales of Russian paintings in Drouot Auction House;
From 1992 – Creative journeys to France, Spain, Italy, Great Britain and other European countries;
1992-1995 – Participation in Drouout auction sales in Paris. His one-man exhibition in Hotel Drouot;
1995-2001 – Participation in auction sales of Russian paintings in Great Britain;
2001-2004 – One-man exhibitions in Renoir Art Gallery, the Netherlands;
2005 – Creation of ‘The Turkish Gambit’ painting which formed the basis of the image poster for the movie of the same name;
2005-2011 – One-man exhibitions in the Petleys Gallery in London and Monaco;
From 2010 – Teaching activities in the Russian Academy of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture of Ilya Glazunov;
2010-2013 – Participation in art exhibitions ‘Images of Russia’ in Moscow, Vologda and Zvenigorod;
